The most exciting and biggest change that has happened in the last 2 weeks is my son if finally asking and answering questions!! He had almost no words when he began (except for the few he was taught by rote). I have new approaches to help him calm himself and focus. His vestibular system is coming to life, and soon all the other dominoes will fall and he’ll become a “functioning”, “Normal” kid!!!
As a parent, I am beyond excited by his improvements. He is initiating play with other children – That’s huge!!! He’s participating in classroom activities and really trying to communicate with others – verbally!!! I can see his while future opening up for him now!!! Why doesn’t everybody use these techniques?? Why doesn’t everybody know about them?!!

WOW! Becky is a gift to our society. Her unique approach to children with special needs can benefit everyone! Our son, Seth was evaluated by Becky at the age of 11. We were given a home program to work on with him. The program targeted his sensory behaviors and speech development.
His progress was immediate and quite remarkable. Seth began asking us questions and had a new interest in all that was taking place in his life. He smiled more and engaged with members of the family. Previously we had to work hard to pull him into conversation. While working with Becky she focused on the positive and expected the best of him. Out of town client After working with Becky, my 7 year old Autistic son had very little language, fell to the floor a lot, and tantrumed. The best thing that happened during the 2 weeks we attended Becky’s school near Seattle, WA (we flew up from San Jose, CA) was that my son not only started talking, but was talking in complete sentences, answering yes/no and who questions, making choices and verbal engaging with the other students in the program. All in 2 weeks; My goal is to have a conversation with my son, and that is going to happen, soon; All this in 2 weeks!

Shae’s Story We first met Becky Blake in June 2008 when my son, Shae, was three years old. I was desperately searching for the right summer program for him, when I came across an ad announcing Becky as the new owner of Baby Power Forever Kids, specializing in special needs preschool. I new this was an answer to prayers. Shae had been struggling with sensory issues for well over a year. Months earlier he had been asked to leave two different daycares for biting and generally unable to play well with other kids. Even after months of slow progress in OT and developmental preschool, he was still unable to participate in a busy preschool or daycare. It took very little to set him off- loud noises, too much visual stimulation, unexpected or unwanted touch, the list could go on and on. One minute he’d be hugging you, the next he was slugging you. He was unable to control his response to stimuli or regulate his emotions. He was unpredictable at best, and unable to use his words well enough to describe what was happening in him. To tell the truth, initially I felt hesitant of the programs Becky incorporated in her programs (Handle, Brain Gym, etc.). They were not the traditional forms of therapy I was familiar with. But I trusted her and knew it was worth a try. Within weeks of starting the program, there was an obvious difference in Shae’s behavior. With each passing day a new skill arrived and a concern disappeared. Immediately his stamina for situations got better, and his language skills improved. Within a month of working with Becky his stress level had lowered so much we could take him into new situations without worrying what his response would be. He became curious and outgoing. As the summer went on, his struggles with playing well with others were gone, and a caring, creative friend emerged. Where just weeks earlier his ability to concentrate on a subject was minimal at best, by the end of the summer had learned all his numbers, letters and was learning to read and spell! At the beginning of the summer he struggled to put simple thoughts into words, by the end, he was holding full conversations. Today his preschool teacher calls him the model student! He participates in every activity, is a great model for the other students in speech, is a wonderful friend and playmate, and academically is ahead of the class. He is able to control his emotions and explain his feelings. I am amazed at how far he has come in just a few short months, and we owe it all to Becky. To say the program Becky provides helps kids would be a gross understatement. Becky gave Shae the chance to reach his true potential in life without being burdened by these roadblocks in his body. And she gave us the opportunity as his parents to realize what a talented, creative, loving and capable little boy we have.

Our son is now completely pee pee trained. He goes and sits on his own when he feels the need and even says he needs to go if we are outside and don’t have a potty accessible. Potty is a whole different thing. He also loves his table top toys and I give him almost 10 activities each afternoon and he still doesn’t tire out. He loves problem solving. Hope you are doing well.

Working with Becky Blake has been amazing! She was a delight to have in our home noticing everything about my child’s actions, interaction and speech. Becky explained why my son does all his repetitive activities and designed a program to help my severely autistic 4.5-year-old son. We have been implementing the program for just over two months and have seen many improvements.
- The first is in eye contact, which after one month in drastically improved and now is at the point at being typical for his age. The intentionality and intensity of his eye contact has changed also, like he is reading my emotions not just looking at me.
- The second improvement is flexibility. He is far more open to changes in schedule; new ideas or toys and more interested in his little sister.
- The third improvement is speech. He is talking in more complete sentences, chatting to himself while playing, and commenting on anything not just saying things to get his needs met.
- The fourth improvement is his bowels. We have tried every diet and supplement, but lowering his stress was essential in getting his system working, I have been able to add some foods that were previously an issue — for the first time in over a year!
- The fifth improvement is maturity; he is interested and motivated to do things himself like getting his clothes, putting his dishes up, being a helpful hand in our family.
What I love is that he has progressed globally and it is such a joy as we interact more and more, he is really showing us his personality. Could not be more thrilled!

EVENING SUPER KIDS CLASS and LEARN TO READ PROGRAM
Before: 5 year old boy, speech, social, behavior issues I have notices significant changes in my son’s reading and writing skills. His handwriting is much easier to read and his letters are not backwards or upside down as much. The muscle tone in his face has tightened and he has really become more talkative and open. He is also trying new foods and doesn’t have frequent melt downs anymore. He loves to come to Becky’s program and really look forward to things that he learns there.
My son has made unbelievable progress. Before the school year ended, his teacher and para both commented to me that he has been using self calming strategies and having fewer flare ups. At home, summer has been a little difficult, but overall, I can see his sensory systems working together better, and he is having a much easier time with transitions, and life in general.

Before: Autistic, 4 years old, speech, social, not yet potty trained After a few weeks of working with Becky, my son now uses the potty. He is using more words and his words are getting much better to understand. He is obeying simple instructions more consistently and has had a slightly better adjustment in his attitude.
I saw my child’s future, before working with Becky, as homelessness, in ability to communicate and receive any help in adult years. He can now use the potty consistently, better articulation and understanding. We needed a summer program for our son, so we decided to try Becky’s. It was definitely worth it!

Before: Autistic 4 year old, speech, social, behavior issues, not yet potty trained. After our son attending Becky Blake’s program he is speaking more and using the toilet more regularly. I was so afraid that he would not be in a mainstreamed kindergarten. Now that we have been working with Becky, we can ask him basic questions and receive a basic response. Once his speech improves he will make larger leaps forward. Becky’s testimonials are what made us decide on her program for our son. It’s a wonderful and valuable program. Before: 4 year old, speech, behavior issues, chewed on things Before working with Becky I saw lots of visits to the principal’s office and no friends, negative teacher conferences. After working with Becky for several weeks my son’s speech has gotten better. He has become more social and really seeks out friends now. He is overall a lot more calm. We are better able to diffuse tantrums and he gets stuck on things so much that he can’t do without them. We can NOW gout to eat at a restaurant. We can play at the playground without dirty looks from other parents over his behavior.
I now see my son’s future differently. He will be happy in school and he can make friends and do things for himself. We decided on Becky’s program as I got high recommendations from a former school principal. I would tell other people that you will get results and they will come in a short period of time.

Another Mother’s Testimonial We started coming to work with Becky Blake in the fall of 2008 on the recommendation of a friend. Our son was showing signs of sensory processing difficulties and consequently struggling with school. As a parent, I worried that my child would slip farther and farther away from his peers, both socially and academically, and after having scoured the internet for resources to help him, didn’t know where to turn. We set up an initial observation/evaluation and immediately began him on a program, which included weekly specialized tutoring and at-home exercises.
